New “green” Virginia Natural Gas Headquarters officially debuts

November 4, 2010

Norfolk, Va. – November 4, 2010 – Virginia Natural Gas today hosted the grand opening of their new 32,500 square foot building in Virginia Beach’s Lakeview Corporate Park off Independence Boulevard and Interstate 264.

The ceremonial ribbon was cut by Mayor Will Sessoms, Virginia Beach; Tony Nero, president, Armada Hoffler; and Jodi Gidley, president, Virginia Natural Gas.

“Our new facility is especially environmentally friendly, which made it very attractive to us,” said Jodi Gidley, president, Virginia Natural Gas. “Reducing our carbon footprint reinforces our commitment to our customers, the residents of Virginia and our employees.”

The two-story brick and glass office building features numerous green building components including; an energy efficient natural gas HVAC system, low-flow fixtures, water efficient landscaping, a white roof, a reduced construction waste management program and reduction in light pollution.

The new headquarters also allows the company to streamline its operations by consolidating offices.

“We are excited to have more of our employees under one roof, “said Gidley. “Our corporate and Southside offices are now at one centralized location.”

In addition to the ceremonial ribbon cutting, check presentations were made to both the Southeastern Tidewater Opportunity Project (STOP) and the Salvation Army.
